12 weeks out planning
You are comparing packages, and the hours never seem to match your plan. Two hours looks tight, four hours feels generous, and somewhere in there is the version of your day that actually breathes. June light in South East Queensland is kind, sunset sits around 5:00 pm, and golden hour tends to open about 45 to 55 minutes before that. Lock the season and the light first, then shape the package around it.
Think about location as a timeline choice, not just a backdrop. Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland gives soft, rolling light after 3:30 pm with easy pull-ins along the range roads. Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast Hinterland runs cooler under canopy, so a 2:30 pm start can help before it dims. Along the bay at Cleveland Point, winter breezes can whip across the headland, so plan a 5 to 10 minute buffer to warm hands between frames. If you are set on Burleigh Headland or Noosa boardwalks, know that weekend mornings can fill parking by 7:00 am.
Permits and logistics matter. Small ceremonies in public spaces may still need permission, and availability windows can be tight. Build in 2 to 3 weeks for permits, 20 to 30 minutes for parking and walks, and one solid weather backup, even in our dry winter.
Our team at She Said Yes designs coverage around light and travel, not arbitrary hours. If you want a ceremony at 4:00 pm and portraits into dusk, a 3 hour plan usually fits. If you love a slow, post-ceremony picnic or driving between spots, 4 to 5 hours keeps it calm. You can read how we shoot and deliver on our page about our wedding photography approach.
4 weeks out choices
By the one month mark, choose your coverage and add-ons. Typical elopement photography packages in Queensland look like this: 2 hours for small, single-location vows, 3 hours for ceremony plus portraits, 4 to 5 hours for prep, ceremony, and a relaxed wander. Expect a price range from $1,400 to $2,200 for 2 hours, $2,200 to $3,200 for 3 to 4 hours, and $3,200 to $4,500 for 5 to 6 hours, depending on travel and weekday or weekend demand.
- Set ceremony time and count back 45 to 55 minutes for golden hour portraits in winter.
- Map travel. Keep moves under 15 minutes or add 10 minutes of buffer per location.
- Pick coverage: 2, 3, or 4 to 5 hours based on the moves and how slow you want it to feel.
- Decide on stills only or stills plus a 3 to 4 minute highlight film.
- Confirm backup spots for wind or tide and send the pin drops to your photographer.
If you are eloping on a weekday, many teams offer quieter pricing, and city travel is easier after 9:30 am and before 3:00 pm. Adding simple video coverage is common for families who cannot attend. A paired highlight film often adds $900 to $1,600 and needs minimal extra time. See how a small film pairs with photos on our wedding videography page.

Day before run sheet
Keep the pre-game light and specific. Elopements do not need a 10 page schedule, but a clean one page plan helps everyone arrive calm. Aim for a 5 to 10 minute buffer on every line if you are moving through public spaces.
- Confirm sunrise or sunset time to the minute, and set a 15 minute earlier meet time.
- Drop exact pins for parking and the ceremony spot, and name a wet or windy backup.
- Pack rings, vows, a small cloth, and a clear umbrella per person for winter sprinkles.
- Steam outfits by 8:00 pm and hang them high. Lay flat any heirlooms by a window.
- If walking on sand or grass, plan footwear swaps and a 2 minute sock-dry stop.
June detail to note: mornings can hit 8 to 12°C. If you are shooting at sunrise around 6:40 am, pack hand warmers and keep a thermos in the car. Afternoon ceremonies at 3:30 to 4:00 pm feel comfortable in the sun, but the moment it drops, you will want a wrap.
On the day flow
A simple, calm elopement rides on timing and space. Here are two ways coverage usually plays out, with real minutes so you can see the fit.
Two hour plan, one location: 15 minutes for a first look, 20 to 25 minutes for portraits, 15 minutes to welcome any guests, 20 minutes for the ceremony, 20 minutes for post-ceremony hugs, 20 minutes for golden hour portraits, and 10 minutes for a final frame. This fits a Brisbane city centre park or a short headland walk without rush.
Four hour plan, two locations: 30 minutes for prep details and quiet portraits, 20 minutes travel, 25 minute ceremony, 20 minutes for family photos if you have 5 to 10 guests, 30 minutes for a picnic or champagne, 25 minutes travel to a lookout or beach, and 50 minutes across golden hour and blue hour frames. This suits Maleny hills into a Glass House Mountains view, or Tamborine forest into a ridge line, without watching the clock.
Wind or crowds? Shift five minutes at a time, not fifteen. If a headland is packed, a small move of 80 to 120 metres often changes everything. If gusts push hard at Sandstone Point near Bribie Island, turn 30 degrees to use the hotel buildings as a break and keep hair off faces.
We keep portrait direction light. One or two cues, then let you settle. If you have questions about how we work in busy public spaces, browse our notes and examples in our weddings hub, or message us your plan so we can suggest a clean route.
Gallery delivery and keepsakes
Expect a sneak peek within 48 to 72 hours and a full gallery in 3 to 6 weeks, season depending. Elopements usually land between 200 and 500 finished images for 2 to 4 hours of coverage, with a balanced mix of candid moments and quiet portraits. If we film as well, your 3 to 4 minute highlight tends to deliver 4 to 6 weeks after the day.
Albums are optional but good for families who were not there. A handcrafted book typically runs $1,100 to $1,800 for 20 to 30 spreads, with additional spreads around $80 to $120 each. Print orders ship within 7 to 14 days once approved. If you want dates or a tailored quote for travel to the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, or the islands, send a quick note through our enquiry form.
If you are still deciding between packages, scroll a few real days in our wedding photography galleries, then match what you love to the hour counts above. Your choice should feel like there is air in it.
